Easter in Ghana

Easter is celebrated across the board in Ghana. It is celebrated by both Christians and non-Christians alike, but everyone and the community has their own twist to mark the occasion. We are encouraging you to visit this nation of 30 million people this time of the year.

Nowadays people come to Ghana during the Christmas and New Year season as it has become the most popular time of year to visit. Ghanaians and non-Ghanaians descend into Accra and enjoy the nightlife, beaches, and culture for 2 to 6 weeks, depending on your pocket. However, there is so much more to Ghana than December. Ghana in fact is a great place to visit all year but Easter season is another top tier time to visit. It is just before the rainy season and the nation is feeling very festive since the majority of Ghanaians are Christians and will be coming to an end of their fasting during this period. In addition, the cost of goods and services are not as high as what you would normally see during the Christmas season.

During the Easter holiday, there is a popular destination in the Eastern Region, Kwahu. Kwahu is a mountainous area in Ghana that holds a Paragliding festival. Majority of people who are from Kwahu often live in Accra and delight in going back home for the Easter holidays, thus making the town even more lively. There are lots of nightlife and day events that take place in Kwahu.

Apart from the festivities in Kwahu, another great area to visit Ghana is the Western Region of Ghana. There are amazing beachfront destinations that many people flock to during the holiday season. There is my favorite destinations like Butre which is serene and calm. Busua Beach is another great destination where people enjoy a bit more adventure such as surfing. A lot of companies also organize team building exercises and excursions or trips to this city during major holidays such as Easter. There is no way you will have a slow time in the Western Region of Ghana.

If you choose not to get out of town, that is fine. There are many great activities to do in Accra. For instance, Kokrobite beach has many long weekend activities at Big Millys where you can visit for the day or the weekend and indulge in delicious food and nightlife. If you want something more serene in the neighborhood, check out Sankofa Beach resort. The beach is quiet and the food is delicious.

If you want to chop life in Ghana other than the Christmas holiday, Easter season is another great time of the year to visit. Kwahu will always remain the first choice for many travelers during Easter  but if you want a change, choose a destination that makes you happy and just book the transportation and go your way there. You will not regret coming to this beautiful nation during this time of year. Easter in Ghana is another hidden time of the year to visit and let everyone know that Virtual Nomads was the first to tell you.
